FAIRFIELD — Sacred Heart University is having a memorial service for a student early Monday afternoon.
Deb Noack, the director of communications at Sacred Heart, said the service will take place at SHU’s Chapel of the Holy Spirit at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
“The Chapel is currently open for prayer with members of campus ministry available to talk,” Noack said. “Counseling services will also be available to members of the SHU community going forward over the next few days.”
According to a report in the New York Post, Peter DeSalvo, 19, jumped to his death off the the Vessel sculpture in Hudson Yards area of Manhattan on Saturday evening. The report said he was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
Noack said the SHU flag has been lowered to half-staff in DeSalvo’s memory.
“We ask that during this time you give Peter’s family and the members of the SHU community privacy while they grieve,” Noack said.
