Here is another example of government inefficiency.
Three weeks ago, I submitted two change of address requests, filling them out properly and submitting them by personally dropping them into a US Postal Service mailbox. I called today, 23 days later, to see why I hadn't received any forwarded mail.
The supervisor I talked to said she checked two different systems and there was no record of the requests. So, somewhere along the line, it appears that the USPS, which should have been the only entity to touch and process my requests, lost them.
It's no wonder this entity is losing so much money every year, when there is this kind of incompetence. We keep paying them more and more for services and keep getting less and less service.
In addition, I was told to make the request online, but that I would be charged another $1 to verify my identity. Let's hope this time that the request gets processed and this is not another money-making scam by this agency.
Another point to know: All change-of-address requests are sent to Virginia for processing and then returned to the originating post office. This process can take up to two weeks, so if you are moving, make sure you give them enough time to process your request.
